Great Pier Day! Thank you everyone for coming out and helping during Pier day. The grounds, house, committee boat and docks are in tip top shape and ready for the season. All we need is mother nature to throw us a bone and warm up the chilly waters!
On June 9 2018, CYC will organize a sailing regatta that’s fun for every sailor (experienced or not) using any type of (dinghy) sailboat. Using the Portsmouth Yardstick system, each boat is assigned a handicap number and can race against one other using time measurements.
What can you expect:
A day filled with fun sailing regatta’s for young and old for experienced and inexperienced sailors.
If you do not own a boat or don’t know how to sail, please call and we will try to match you up with one of our Club members.
For the inexperienced sailors, there will be a short introduction to regatta sailing to go over the basic rules.
Good food, drinks.
Everyone is welcome to watch the races from our club grounds. For the youngsters there’s a sandbox, swings and a beach area. Please note that life vests are required for youngsters under 13 years old, a limited number of life vests are available for loan at Club.
Camping is available at our facility from Friday to Sun...
Saturday, April 21 at 9:00 am
We will be repairing the pier, turning on the water and electricity and cleaning up the grounds. Bring rakes and clippers and any tools that you think may be necessary. We have a limited number of rakes and shovels. We will meet at 9 AM and hope to be complete by noon. There is no meal scheduled.
Sunday, April 29 at 12:00 pm
We will complete any outside work but most importantly the pier will be put in. Waders are needed. If anyone has a large pipe wrench, they would be helpful for screwing the pier posts in. Ladies are invited to get the clubhouse ready for the season. Cleaning equipment and rags are needed. There should be hot running water and restroom facilities available (all the comforts of home). There will be a meal available following the completion of the work.
