John Alvey, 1939-2017

John W. Alvey, 78, of Chippewa Lake, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 19, 2017. John was born October 31, 1939 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Lester and Grace Alvey.

He was the owner of his own business and enjoyed sharing his skills throughout the community. He will be dearly missed by his family and

cherished friends.

John approached each day ready for new adventures on life's great journey. His passion for automobiles began in childhood, when he disassembled and then to the relief of his parents, successfully reassembled the family car. He will be lovingly remembered by so many as a "Gearhead". He was a long time member of Chippewa Lake Sailing Club and recently enjoyed glider flying.

John is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa (Douglas) Dove and Karen Alvey (Suntosh Murthy); grandchildren, Samantha, Zachary and Skylar Dove; brothers, Raymond Alvey and Roger (Grace) Alvey; sister, Elizabeth Strong; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and former wife, Susan Alvey.

A private celebration of John's life will be held.
